Trinitas Christian School is pleased to announce Alice Stout as the winner of its first annual Chrysostom Oratory Contest, a qualifying competition for the national Chrysostom Oratory Contest, a speech competition held by the ACCS (Association of Classical and Christian Schools). Miss Stout delivered her 15-minute address entitled “Rediscovering the Beauty of Leviticus 11” to an audience of students, parents, and guests on Friday, 12 March, 2011. Her speech suggested that modern Christians misinterpret the Levitical dietary code, thereby applying it inappropriately or even overlooking it altogether.
The Chrysostom Oratory Contest is a speech contest sponsored by the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS). As the winner of Trinitas’ Chrysostom contest, Ms. Stout will compete with orators from other ACCS schools for a $1000 prize and the opportunity to deliver her address at the ACCS Conference in Atlanta in June.
The Chrysostom Oratory Contest takes its name from John Chrysostom, a fourth-century Christian archbishop of Constantinople whose eponym means “Golden-mouthed.” Chrysostom is known for his eloquence in preaching and public speech.
As winner of the Chrysostom contest at Trinitas, Alice stout receives the “Golden Mouth” trophy, a cash prize, points for her house, the opportunity to speak publicly at Trinitas events, and of course, a berth in the ACCS’s oratory contest.
Trinitas Christian School acknowledges and thanks Mr. and Mrs. Dixie Dan Powell for their generous sponsorship of the oratory contest and Mr. Michael Robbins for videoing and editing Trinitas’ Chrysostom contest and Alice’s speech which will be submitted to the ACCS Chrysostom Oratory Contest.

Trinitas’ live and silent auction, A Jazzy Knight, raised over $15,000 for the general fund. The auction committee offered a new option to donate a day, week, month, or year for a Trinitas student. This effort was very successful with many friends and families participating.
Many thanks to our auction mistresses Mrs. Edina Mann and Mrs. Mary Reisberg, the auction committee, our auctioneer Mr. Harrell Downey, our many volunteers and donors, as well as the great number of friends and family that attended the event.
