Mrs. Usita’s 6th Grade class had some cotton picking fun last week at Mickey Diamond’s farm in Jay, Florida. Students learned about harvesting, picking, and growing this precious commodity God has given us to use in many different ways. They rode on the combines, or cotton pickers, and learned about the operations of this heavy machinery. After a picnic at Mr. Diamond’s barn, the children were able to take a sample of cotton home as a souvenir. It was an unforgettable experience and a great opportunity to see “behind the scenes” of the cotton industry.
