The senior marine biology and sixth grade classes visited Gulf Quest in Mobile. Senior Jacob Hopkins shared his experience.
Our trip to Gulf Quest was an insightful look into maritime activities. We learned everything from global wind patterns to navigational equipment. There were many hands on exhibits that gave a tangible experience: displaying the effects of wind on sails, the complex system of identification lights, and the importance of knots even on modern vessels. We also received a fantastic lecture and demonstration on the effects of chemicals and plastics on the environment and the steps being made to alleviate those effects.
