Four Receive Commendations

Four members of this year’s senior class of 11 received National Merit Commendations. They are Miss Marina Dunayeva, Miss Chrisann McGee, Miss Mary Proffit Kimmel, and Miss Elizabeth Swaim. Miss Kimmel and Miss Swaim advanced from the Commendation level to the Semi-finalist level, two of five in the Pensacola area. In February, Miss Kimmel and Miss Swaim moved to the Finalist level. They were recognized for their achievement in the Pensacola News Journal.
Miss Kimmel, daughter of Robert and Susan Kimmel, has yet to make a final decision on which college she will attend next year. She plans to pursue a possible pre-med degree. During her 8 years at Trinitas, Miss Kimmel has been actively involved in the arts program of drama, ballet, and piano, the Yearbook staff, student government, Classical Film Society, and volleyball.
Miss Swaim, daughter of Tom and Catherine Swaim, plans on becoming an engineer. Currently, she has her sights on Auburn University, but hasn’t made a final decision. Miss Swaim is in her fifth year at Trinitas and has been active in the Drama Club, Physics Club, Classical Film Society, and the National Honor Society.
Miss Dunayeva is the daugther of Irina and Vladimir Dunayeva. She is in the process of selecting a college. During her 8 years at Trinitas, Miss Dunayeva has been involved in the Chapel Choir, Student Government, National Honor Society, Yearbook, Classic Film Society, and the Physics Club.
Miss McGee, daughter of Robert and Terri McGee, plans to major in history, although her college of choice is still undecided. Miss McGee, who has attended Trinitas for nine years, has been active on the Yearbook staff, National Honor Society, Classic Film Society, Student Government, mentoring, and plays the piano and cello.
There have been 16 graduates in the past ten years since Trinitas’ founding in 1999. Each of the past 16 graduates has been eligible to receive a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship as well as other scholarships to colleges across the United States. Last year, the five graduates were offered a combined total of $141,000 in scholarship funds. In 2007, Trinitas graduated its first National Merit Scholar, Kaleb Trotter.
We congratulate these girls and their achievements.
Trinitas invites you to make plans to be part of its upcoming events:
March 20: 7th Annual Golf Classic 8:00 a.m. Scenic Hills Country Club
March 26: Evening of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness, 6:00 p.m.
April 23 & 24: Harvey Drama Presentation
The Family and Friends Talent Show and Silent Auction is an annual event for the Trinitas family to bring their friends for an evening of fun. The four Trinitas houses compete in a talent show while we enjoy the meal and fellowship together. At the same time, a silent auction is being held for the many items donated to the school from area businesses, families, and friends.
The Trinitas Golf Classic is a fun event held the first Saturday in March at Scenic Hills Golf Course off 9 Mile Road in Penscola. Golfers have enjoyed this event for the past six years as it continues to grow. Get a foursome together and enjoy a day of fun. Proceeds from this event help provide financial aid for our students.
Evening of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness is a scholarship fund raising event. On this evening, friends are invited to come along side Trinitas to assist in providing the funds needed for financial aid to students so that children of like-minded families can receive a classical, Christ-centered education. The Trinitas students perform “A Day in the Life of Trinitas” showing what and how they learn at each stage, grammar, logic, and rhetoric.
Each year the Drama Club presents a play to the community. This year, the Drama Club is proud to present "Harvey" on April 23rd and 24th. Watch for ticket information.
