“Mighty Casey” did not strike out last night in a thrilling baseball game against one of Trinitas’ chief rivals, Central Christian School of Robertsdale, Alabama.  After a very difficult start in the first two innings, our Trinitas Knights were down 11 to 1.  However, our determined young men did not lose heart and completely turned the tide, outscoring Central 11-0 in innings three through seven for an unforgettable win of 12-11.  Each member of the ball club contributed to the win, bringing to mind the truth of I Corinthians 12:12-21 -26.  May the Lord be pleased to have the team and all of Trinitas remember this portion of His Word!

Pitchers Jimmy Hunter, Sam Tenniswood and Paul Strickler combined for 5 straight shutout innings, backed up by outstanding defense delivered by their fellow Knights – highlights included Tucker Gregg’s racing grab of a fly ball into the gap in left center to end the 4th; John Hunter’s gunshot throw from deep short to first, ending a Central threat in the 5th; and Edwin Weihenmeyer’s back-handed stab of a white-hot grounder down the third base line and subsequent throw to 1st for the out.

Production at the plate was relentless:  six runs in the 4th, one in the 5th, three in the 6th and, in the 7th, the winning run via a walkoff single by Sam Tenniswood which knocked in Jimmy Hunter, who had led off the 7th with a thundering triple.  An elated crowd of Trinitas parents and students celebrated our baseball team’s largest comeback in Trinitas baseball history.  Well done young men and may we all remember the wonderful lesson the Lord gave us all last night: never, EVER give up and always persevere no matter the circumstances the Lord in His Goodness provides!
